July 25th, 2016 - The itch you can't scratch

Hello hello,

Alright so this week was honestly SO GOOD!!!!! I'm just so filled with
happiness and I hope you guys had a good week too:)

Okay so first off, did you guys accept my challenge and did anything
happen this week?? I want to hear all about it!!!

Now let's talk about my great week:)  Monday we went to dinner at a
less active families house and they are Asian and so they made us some
type of Vietnamese dinner. And it was so interesting haha. Didn't
really know what to think of it so I just ate as fast as I could so I
could be done haha. And they were just watching us which was odd and
making Asian jokes that I didn't understand haha. It was a lot awkward
lol. Then we had a lesson that night with another less active and we
taught about the Book of Mormon. And it was just really cool because
as I was talking the spirit just took over and I could feel the power
and truth to what I was saying about the Book of Mormon and I just
knew that the Holy Ghost was testifying of its truths. It was really
powerful and I'm so grateful for that experience.

Tuesday was such a busy day, full of bike riding and appointments! We
had to bike all the way from our home to the opposite side of our area
which is about a 8 mile bike ride. And boy was I dying haha.
Literally, I had to take break and just sit down because my whole body
was killing. Lol although the perks of the bikes are my calves are
huge!! Haha  but seriously they look good. We had some good lessons
that day. But omg our last lesson we went into omg, the whole house
just stunk of weed so bad! Like I felt I was getting suffocated. Lol
then the lady proceeds to tell us about her job at some weed company
haha, that's what happens when weed is legal in Washington! And then
while we were their she let her dogs in about half way and she has 3
and they came and attacked me!! Lol and one only had one eye ball and
another had one normal eye and the other eye was all red and puffy and
hanging out of its eye socket lol. Hen the last dog was huge and just
wanted to jump on me. Ehh it was awful! Hahaha

Wednesday we had zone meeting which is with about 20ish missionaries.
And they asked me and sister Foster to give the restoration and I was
so nervous!!! But they told us we did a really good job, so I'm
grateful that's over with:) then we had a bunch of lessons that day
which was really nice.

Thursday was the best day!!!!:) temple day!!!:) AND OMG GRANDMA
WAS THERE!!!!! It was honestly the best thing ever!!!! So we walk in the
temple and low and behold, grandma Irene is standing right there and
the first thing she says is, "don't scream, we're in the temple" haha.
And it's funny because that's exactly what I wanted to do! I was so so
so happy to see her!!! It was so amazing to be able to go to the
temple and be in the lords house with her:) my heart was just so full!
And I just loved getting to go through a session with her. It was
really exciting!:) Thank you grandma for coming:) it made my day!!!!

Then Friday was awesome too!!!:) temple day round 2 and this time I
got to go with some of my favorite people! So B picked me and
sister Foster up and drove us to Portland so we could get sister
Richards. (Mine and Richards companion went together while we went to
the temple) and omg I was just so happy!!!! It was a dream being back
together with B and Richards. It was so so great catching up:)
it felt like home being with the two of them again:) we had so much
fun together again. And it was really fun going through a session with
them! And then while we were at the temple because we were going
through for sister B, she's a lady we taught in Hazel Dell! And so
it was so fun to see her in the temple because she worked so hard to
get there and she was just glowing and so happy. And on top of that I
got to see a bunch of people from the Hazel Dell Ward which was so
exciting.

And then, I got to see SISTER R FROM LA CENTER!!!!!!:)
you guys I was just on cloud nine after these last two days. I got to
see so many people who I just love and my heart was just so happy. It
was honestly such a great day getting to see all these people!!!!!! I
can't even begin to express how amazing it was:) I just felt so lucky
and blessed and I am just so happy to be out here!

Saturday was also a pretty great day, well evening... Haha so in the
morning we helped a lady move into her new apartment which was
alright, except she was moving to the 3rd floor which meant 3 flights
of stairs to climb. But it really wasn't that bad, the elders came and
we made them do all the work haha. But then we went to a lesson with a
girl about my age and she has a baby. Well we are having this
good lesson when all of a sudden this girl starts to lift up her shirt
and then she stars breast feeding her baby. And she just leaves
everything hanging around. Doesn't even bother to pull down her shirt
or put a blanket on to cover up. Nope nothing she's just hanging out
all free. And me and sister Foster are dying because although we are
girls too it's just so awkward. Haha after a few minutes the baby is
done and she puts everything away. But then he gets hungry again so
again she basically takes her shirt off, (might as well with how much
skin was just exposed) haha and feeds him. I've never seen so much
boob in my life haha. It was crazy!

After that crazy episode we went to dinner with B and P at
Olive Garden and it was so good:) and so much fun. They are
seriously so so funny! I just love them! Poor little B though, she
is in a boot, kinda like you were in mom, and she has to get surgery
on her Achilles' tendon on Thursday. So please keep her in your
prayers. But anyway so after dinner we were gonna have them drop us
off someone so we could talk to some people but we needed to get a
picture with them and they were literally being so difficult like
children hahah. It was so funny but so frustrating because I just
wanted a picture and they were acting all crazy haha. I couldn't stay
mad though because they just kept making me laugh haha. P kept
wanting to go next to a port a potty and take a picture. Or even walk
up to a nice house and take a one. OMG we were dying. I just love
spending time with those two lady's. They are both amazing and I love
them to pieces!

Oh and apparently I'm the itch you can't scratch, at least that's what
B called me and that's why it's my subject hahaha. And omg Sunday was
so great because P got her temple recommend
interview with bishop and now all she needs to do is talk with the
stake president and then hopefully we can take her to the temple
soon:) I'm so happy for her:)

So yeah this week was honestly sooooo great:)
I hope you guys enjoyed your week and hope things are going well:)
I love and miss y'all so much, to the moon and back;)
Don't forget to remember me;)

July 18th, 2016 - HALF WAY!!!

Hey family!!!!!:)

Oh my lanta, you guys, IM HALFWAY!!!!!!!! 9 months down, 9 to go!!!!
WOOP WOOP!!!:) this is so exciting and crazy at the same time!!!!

It was so good to hear from you guys! I love getting all the pictures
and updates! It literally makes me so happy:)

Okay so this week lets see what happened.

Tuesday morning we helped P by pulling her weeds. That was nice
because the weather was overcast and not too hot. Then we rode our
bikes for what felt like years haha to get to our dinner different
lessons and then our dinner appointment. Ew and we had chili for
dinner and it was gross haha.

Wednesday we had a lesson with this cute new investigator, E.
She is older and we taught her the restoration and then we put her on
date! This was my first lesson with her and the spirit was just so
strong. It was honestly such a great lesson! I was just so happy for
her because of how excited she became when we explained the
restoration. Oh man it's just amazing to be able to see different
people come to feel the spirit and learn the things that will bless
their lives! It's so great!

Thursday, was my HUMP DAY!!!!:) yay and it was such a fun day! S
came out with us and she took us to firehouse subs for lunch:) and omg
it was so good but also so weird because the last time I was at
firehouse subs was 9 months ago right before I went to the MTC with
dad. It brought back so many memories! So after lunch we went with
S to knock some doors and no one was really home so we didn't
have anything to crazy happen. Lol after that we went to help a lady
peel apples for a service project. Literally peel apples. Mom this is
literally something you've been preparing me for my whole life!!!
Hahah all those times that you taught me to peel an apple helped me
with this! Haha I was so proud. So the reason we were peeling apples
is because she has an apple tree and she just has so many apples that
she cant eat them before they go bad so she asked us to help her peel
them so she could freeze them and then lady use them for apple pie and
apple sauce. It was really fun, although we did this for like 2 hours
so my poor hands were very sore haha. Then for dinner we went to a
pizza place with this family, the lady who actually knows grandma
Irene! It was fun, and the place was called uncle D's pizza and it
made me think of dad because Mary Frances calls him uncle d hahaha.

Friday all of our lessons canceled which was a big bummer. But we
spent a lot of the day inside planning so that was good.
Saturday was a busy morning. Grandma B came out with us and drove
us around which is always the best. Then we went to the church and had
a zone lunch with our new zone since transfers were Wednesday. It was
fine.

OH! I almost forgot. This week I get to go to the temple!!!! Not once
but twice!!!!:) I am going Thursday at 3 with my zone, so a bunch of
missionaries. And then Friday I am going again at 3 because someone I
was teaching in my last area, Sister B, is going through for her
first time so I get to go!!!!!!:) I am so excited!!!!! This is exactly
what I need and I'm just so ready!!!!! :) oh and I also get to go to
dinner with B on Saturday and I'm so excited:) it should be a
really good week:)

So this week during one of my studies I was reading an article and I
just really enjoyed it and wanted to share my thoughts and feelings
with you guys. But first I want to know how your own missionary
efforts are going? Just because I have a tag doesn't mean I should be
the only missionary in the family. Every single one of you can be a
missionary and share the gospel. All you need to do is open your mouth
and invite!!! Talk about the things you know to be true and what you
do at church! This gospel blesses our lives each and everyday. It
makes us happy each and everyday!! So why not share it with our
friends and neighbors so that they can receive the happiness and
blessings too?? Food for thought. I want to challenge you guys this
next week to look for opportunities to share the gospel. And pray for
opportunities and guidance on what to say. Yes it can be a little
scary or nerve racking but as you search for these experiences and act
on them, Heavenly Father will bless you, provide a way, and help you.
I've seen this over and over in my own missionary work. But as I put
my fears aside and put faith in God, miracles happen. And especially
in this work we (the missionaries) need the help of all the members in
the Ward we serve. There is nothing worse than not having support from
the Ward. So ask yourself, what are you doing to help the
missionaries, no, Heavenly Father? I can testify that this is His work
and that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. No
matter how big or little they may be. Simply sharing your testimony,
or what you know to be true is missionary work. So please, from a
missionary who understands that the Ward can totally make a
difference, look for and ACT upon these experiences that are placed in
front of you. At the store, at the pool, at work, Heavenly Father is
preparing hearts all around us and all we need to do is trust in Him
and go and do.

Next thing I would love to know is how are the missionaries doing in
the Encino park Ward? Anything exciting going on? Do they have any
leads that look promising? Are you guys offering help to them?
Kylee you should offer to go out with them to a lesson,
mom you too. From experience, when members come to lessons with us
they are usually the best lessons. The spirit that members bring
really helps and makes all the difference. And when you ask the
sisters if you can go out with them instead of them begging and
calling 20 different people helps a bunch too. So these are just some
of my thoughts and feelings and I just really want to encourage you
guys to be looking for these experiences because they are all around
us waiting to happen:) and one last challenge lol, go to the gospel
library app and read this article in the March 2009 Ensign, Learning
to Share the Gospel. It's a beautiful talk about missionary work and
while I was reading it I just kept feeling prompted to share it with
you guys this week. Can't wait to hear all about your experiences next
week:)

Well I miss and love y'all to the moon and back!!!!
Thanks for writing me you guys, it means more than you'll know.
I hope y'all have a good and safe week:)

Ps don't forget to remember me;)

July 11th, 2016 - Half way done!!

Hey hey family and friends,

I hope you all have had a great week! It's so good to hear from y'all!

Just want to give y'all an update in case you aren't aware, BUT THIS
THURSDAY IS MY HALF WAY MARK!!!!! You guys I repeat that I will be 9
months on Thursday!!!!! I'm going to be half way done with my
mission!!!!!! Hump day here I come!!!!! Lol
It's kinda of a big deal and I'm just blown away and can't fully
comprehend that it's real haha.

Anyway, this weekend we found out about transfers. Both Sister Foster
and I are staying here in Nehalem! So we will have more time to ride
our bikes! woop woop lol. But no honestly it's not THAT bad. I
emphasize that because it could be a lot worse. It only rained one day
while we were riding, but that's another story I'll tell you guys
later. Haha and the weather hasn't been too hot, I actually wear a
sweater because the wind makes me cold. And it's really good exercise!
I can feel my muscle form in my thighs and calves. It's exciting, oh
and the sun is out so I'm actually getting tan too haha. It's great!
Well aside from the nasty farmers tan lol. But it's okay! I'm trying
to look at the positives because it's so easy to get caught up in the
negatives!

Alright Monday was the 4th and it was honestly one for the books! It
was really great and I just loved it, it has definitely become one of
my favorite holidays:) So we went to the Ward breakfast which was
nice, and we had a great turn out, saw some less actives which is
always exciting! And let me just say that being a missionary has its
perks because instead of waiting in the hour long line (okay not that
long but you get it) the Ward insisted that we go to the front of the
line and get food! Haha it was so sweet of them! Then that afternoon,
P threw a party and it was just so fun! Lots of people came and
even B came with her daughter and grandkids. It's always so fun to
see that woman, I just adore her! And when the two of them are
together, P and B, it's always a good time haha. We had lots
of food and it was just really nice.

Then that night we just got to hang out with members and watch the
fireworks! And omg the fire works here in Vancouver are the BEST!
Literally better than anywhere I've seen before! I was just amazed and
in heaven! I love fireworks. So we spent most of our night with a family
in our Ward. They are so cute and sweet, they sent a picture to your
phone mom! Did you get it? But omg I was not expecting how cold it
was going to get! We are use to going home at 9 every night but since
it's the 4th we got to stay out until 11 which was so fun, but I also didn't
realize how cold it got! I was wearing a sweater I brought with me and
then this family gave me 4 blankets, a jacket, and a pair of socks! Haha
I felt like an eskimo but it was just so comfy and I loved it:) hope you all
enjoyed your fourth as well:)

Tuesday was a fun day because we got to go do lots of service! And I
just love it! We went to the botanical gardens and helped this cute
lady named S in the hummingbird garden trim all of her flowers and
pull some weeds! It was a lot of fun, of and the STLs took us so it
was fun getting to spend some time with them!

Then we went to help a lady clean her apartment which was less
exciting but we got to wear pants which felt heavenly:) lol oh and for
dinner we went back to the family that we watched the fireworks with
and it was so good and fun. They gave us a funny drink...hahah it was
soooo good, I'll have to make them for the family when I get home!!
Then that night we did some more yard work. And we rode our bikes to
her house and since we wore our service clothes we got to ride our
bikes in jeans and omg it was the weirdest thing, I almost felt
strange because I didn't have on my skirt! So weird! Lol

Wednesday, nothing fancy. We decided to sweep the street because all
the trash from the fireworks were still laying around everywhere and
we thought its be a good opportunity to get out in our neighborhood
and show them that we are normal and just want to help out. Then after
lunch we also wanted to show our appreciation to P because she
has been a real MVP driving us to and from our appointments when she
can. So we remember her saying her windows needed cleaning so we
cleaned the inside and out of her Windows to show her our love. She's
just the cutest lady ever! Anyway, that was really fun:) Then we went
out and did a bunch of findings which resulted in riding our bikes all
night long for miles haha. My legs still hurt every now and again and
I was pooped that night!

Thursday we had district meeting and Sister Foster and I gave the
restoration. It's so funny to look back at the first time I did it and
to now. I've completely changed and I don't get anywhere close to as
nervous anymore! Then that afternoon P had a "small surgery" on
her shoulder so we decided to make her dinner since no one signed up
to feed us. It actually worked out nicely because we were walking
around the area and would have ran late if someone signed up. Anyway
so we made her dinner, which was weird because I haven't made dinner
in a really long time! But I made my specialty haha, tortellini with
salad and lemonade lol it was really good and it was fun to spend
some time with P. Anytime spend with P is a good time:) lol.
Then we had a few lessons that night and Grandma B was sweet and
drove us around since it was kinda raining outside.

Friday we had weekly planning and also we were waiting around watching
for the mailman to see if we would be getting transfer letters! Well
the mail came and went and we didn't get a letter which means we get
to stay together unless it decided to come on Saturday. Well some more
hours of planning we had dinner with a cute little old lady so we rode
our bike to her home and omg, I'll have to spend you pictures of what
she fed us. Haha she gave us some left over lasagna but it was HUGE!
Like the size of my face!!! And then she gave us some dry Cole slaw!
Haha and get this, she took the Cole slaw and dried it off with a
dirty hand towel... Omg it was so hard for me and Sister Foster not to
laugh! We were dying. And then she didn't even eat! She just sat and
watched us! Oh my lanta, I was dying! Lol lol

After dinner we had our lesson cancel so we had to go out and knock
doors and ride our bikes all night....and the best part was it was
raining all night! Omg so it was the first time that we rode our bikes
in the rain and it was just not the best haha. And we just got soaking
wet and it was cold. But we couldn't help but just laugh because it
was so ridiculous hahaha. I'll send you a picture of before and after
the rain. It was a long wet night. And of course no one wanted to let
in two wet girls so nothing too exciting happened!  Lol

That night we went on exchanges with the STLs though so I was pretty
pumped for that! I went to the YSA Ward with Sister Okerlund(the one
with bangs) and sister Carter and Foster stayed in Nehalem. And let me
just let you how pumped I was to be in YSA because they have a car so
I didn't have to ride a bike! Haha it was nice!

So Saturday we went running in the morning for exercise. I know, who
am I anymore haha? Then we went to the botanical gardens again to help
trim the bushes again and it was so funny because sister okerlund fell
into the bush that we were trimming! Omg we were laughing so hard!
Then we went to eat lunch with P and she showed us her shoulder
where she had surgery and poor thing it looks so awful! Oh and while
we were eating we saw the mailman and so we ran out and asked her to
give it to us and we didn't have any letters so we both are staying!
Although sister okerlund is getting transferred and won't be my STL
anymore and I'm so sad, but happy that I get to go on another exchange
before she gets transferred!  After lunch we went to a lesson with an
investigator in her Ward and we taught about the atonement and then
we put her on date for baptism which was so exciting!!!:)

Then we had a few people to stop by before dinner. But omg so got lost
a few times and so we ended up driving around for an hour and it was
just so funny because we could not find out where to go! For dinner we
had shrimp and honestly I've been getting a lot of shrimp lately! But
it's good.. although I miss the way pawpaw makes it! Haha. Hmmm let's
see, the rest of the exchange was fun! We were walking around and saw
this Hispanic family trying to jump their car and so we went and tried
to help them but of course I completely forgot everything I learned
when dad explained how to jump a car so I was useless haha. Dad don't
be mad lol. But the man only spoke Spanish and so I used my many years
of Spanish and living in SA and we spoke to each other in Spanish a
little bit, haha it was really funny. But hey I enjoyed myself lol.

Sunday we had another early morning meeting, which is so not fun. But
I got to come home and take a nap which is always nice! Haha
Omg but poor P, her "little surgery" became infected and so she
had to go to the ER and figure out what's wrong. They gave her some
medicine so we are praying that it was all work out soon!
Sunday's dinner was really funny. We had dinner with a family and it
was a mom dad and a 14 year old daughter. Reminded me of me and dads
relationship. Well anyway the dad and daughter watch he bachelorette
and the dad during the middle of dinner asked his daughter if she
thinks I look like the bachelorette that is currently on, I think her
name is JoJo. Haha anyway it was funny because I just love that show
and so the dad started to give me a run down of the bachelorette!!!
Haha I was laughing so hard and I just loved it!

Well, I'm hoping for good things to come at the start of this new
transfer. I hope all is going well back home!
I miss and love y'all to the moon and back!!!!
Ps don't forget to remember me! ;)
